由于各种原因，学习国际关系专业的申请人，第二年四月份才想起来要申请留学美国,目标学校是著名的Claremont Graduate University。可是，按照该校网站上的申请信息，deadline是二月一日（February 1st），显然，申请人已经逾期两月有余。更糟糕的是，申请人只有GRE成绩，尚缺TOEFL成绩，申请还有可能吗，这所只设研究生课程而不提供本科教育的著名的Claremont Graduate University，将对申请人的询问作出怎样的答复呢？

申请人去函询问

    作为一个潜在的国际学生，申请人首先对该校的“政治、经济、商务”专业的文科硕士表示兴趣。

    申请人介绍自己：国内某国际关系学院毕业，具有英语、国际关系背景，工作与国际商务有关，以此证明与所申请的学位课程密切相关。

    问题是，申请人虽有GRE成绩，但尚无TOEFL成绩。申请人套磁，是否可以先申请，后提供TOEFL成绩；或干脆免除TOEFL成绩，因为其本科专业是英语。此外，申请人询问，在申请截止日过了很长一段时间后，申请是否依然开放。

对方回函答复：

        获悉申请人有申请该校的意向，对方先表感谢。

        关于截止日期，该校所公布的二月一日不是一个铁定的截止日期，而是个优先级日期。该校实行滚动式录取，四月份依然开放申请。申请人依然可以进行申请，只是要抓紧时间。

        对方还告诉了一个春季入学的申请日期，非常周到。

        细心周到的对方还解释了如何进行申请以及申请所需的全套文件。

        至于没有TOEFL成绩，问题也不大。申请人可先递交申请，然后提供TOEFL成绩。当然，只有有了TOEFL成绩，所有申请材料齐全之后，对方才会着手评审。

申请人去函表示感谢：

        对于对方耐心细致的解释，申请人表示感谢。之后，申请人表示，会立即着手进行申请。 同时，申请人对学习所需的费用，也表示了关注。

I am a prospective international student interested in your The Master of Arts in Politics, Economics and Business (“MAPEB”). I graduated from the University of International Relations majoring in English language communication and in international relations. Since my graduation a several years ago, I have been engaged in international business. Now I would like to undertake a graduate program and I found that The Master of Arts in Politics, Economics and Business program is perfectly geared to my learning needs.

The problem is that, although I have a GRE score, I still do not have a TOEFL score. Now, my question is whether the application for the MAPEB program is still open and, if yes, is it possible for me to apply with a GRE score and then take a TOEFL test and then provide you with the TOEFL score as soon as it is available. Or, is there any possibility for me to have the TOEFL test waivered, since I have majored in English throughout my 4-year undergraduate program at a leading university here in China? Please advise me and I will be looking forward to your reply.

Yes, you are still welcome to apply. The February 1st deadline is not a hard deadline, per se, but a priority deadline. Claremont Graduate University has rolling admissions. I would encourage you, however, to submit your application as early as possible to ensure it is processed in a timely manner.
 
The priority deadline for Spring 2013 is November 1, 2012, in case you are interested in starting in the Spring. 
 
When you are ready to apply, you can go to www.cgu.edu/apply. There you will find the online application form as well as more information regarding the application process. I am also attaching an Application Item Checklist for your convenience. This checklist outlines all the materials you need to submit as part of the application process.  
 
Lastly, you are welcome to submit your application now, and then send in your TOEFL scores. However, we will not review your application until you submit your TOEFL scores and your application is complete. Therefore, if you cannot take your TOEFL soon, it may hinder your possibilities of starting in the Fall.
