My Models
I consider myself a person of perseverance and endurance. As a young man, especially as a young man who is in the process of establishing my own business, perseverance and endurance are particularly important for me as two essential personal qualities. I consciously cultivated those two important qualities in me by drawing inspirations from the two role models. One is my compatriot Zhang Ruiming, the CEO of Haier Co., one of the largest producer of electronic products and home electrical appliances in China and even in the world. Over the past two decades, he expanded Haier from a minor enterprise in ShangDong Province into China’s largest and best multinational corporations. Another is Y. Alafat who, whatever his political orientation, devoted himself to the establishment of a Palestine Nation over the past 47 years, working with dedicated efforts. It is his persistence that has contributed to his greatness. Therefore, I worship the powerfulness of the spirit of perseverance and endurance. And I feel proud of myself for possessing these two powerful qualities.

My Strong Points
A candid description of my strong points would include first my high-level ability to conduct self-reflection and introspection. As an important quality in the achievement of commercial successes, this ability is directly combined with one’s wisdom to constitute a cause-and-effect relationship. As far as I am concerned, the extent of one’s wisdom does not depend on the scores that one can achieve in one’s school examinations or whether one can occupy a very important management position in a company or an enterprise. It least depends on the amount of money that one can accumulate as the criterion for measuring the performance in one’s work. The degree of one’s wisdom depends on the extent at which one undertakes introspection and self-examination. The higher the capability for introspection, the greater the wisdom. Therefore, my superb ability to examine myself has enabled me to summarize important experiences and lessons from my successes and failures.

Second, I would like to describe myself as having the capacity to get along and work well with others. My excellent cooperative attitude and interpersonal communicational skills have made it possible for me to finish, in close teamwork with my colleagues, our tasks most efficiently within the shortest possible time. Last but not the least, I have benefited much from my Self-motivation. This quality has prompted me to formulate for myself new and higher objectives and encouraged me to confront even more challenges.

My Weak Points
A serious reflection on myself reveals that I sometimes do suffer from my own shortcomings. The first is that I allow friendship to override business. The sound cooperation and good personal relationship that I have established between myself and my subordinates sometimes make me feel that, if I severely punish my subordinates who have committed serious mistakes, our cooperation and personal friendship would be jeopardized. Therefore, more often than not, I would refrain from dealing with those subordinates harshly. As a result, they have developed a habit of taking advantage of this weakness of mine and not working conscientiously, knowing that they would not be punished, or at most only mildly punished for the errors they commit.

Over my past career experience, I have also become aware that I have failed to cultivate a wide range of interests in areas other than the area of my specialization and my profession. The direct consequence of such a shortcoming is that I will not be comprehensively informed of the latest developments in a diversity of areas. My vision and my horizon will not be sufficiently broad. The globalization and economic integration is by definition a process of convergence. A restrictive knowledge will result in my inability to exploit a wide range of possible resources in tacking a problem. The meaning of MBA lies precisely in developing the ability, including exercising cross-disciplinary knowledge, to solve a particular problem within a particular framework. One needs to be flexible and resourceful. In order to compensate for the possible negative effects resulting from this shortcoming, I will pay deliberate attention to the development of multi-faceted interests in this rapidly changing world. Being a Oriental person who has never been directly exposed to Western culture, I deem my current application and the subsequent MBA program at ENPC as a rare opportunity to develop an international perspective. I believe that during my prospective studies in France, I will be exposed to all the important aspects of Western culture that France typify, with its splendid art, music, literature, philosophy, architecture, modern science and technology. Effective business can be facilitated in an atmosphere of total cultural communion.
