Dear Sir or Madam: Professor and former deputy dean of the Law School at Zhongshan University, I am especially proud of our Law School famous throughout China for its strict educational system and comprehensive curriculum. I am also proud of the students who have graduated from our School because our professional training has equipped them with all the necessary qualifications whether for their career or for their pursuits for more advanced studies.
I got to know Miss xx when she was admitted into the Law School in our university in 1997 with the top fifth performance in Shenzhen City in the National University Entrance Examination (her mathematics score was the highest in the city). She proved to be an exceptional student and a student leader throughout her undergraduate program.
In the course of “Public International Law” I taught in 1998, Miss xx was the one most active in classroom discussion. She contributed to the group work not only her knowledge in law, but also that of finance, history, politics, art and literature. Her perceptive comprehension of important concepts, her perspectives on live international issues, her fluent oral English in presentation led to her highest score of 88 points in her class of more than 180 students. In her “First-Class” thesis entitled The Legal Basis for the Liability of Damage, I sensed how her professional sensitivity, her research potential and English knowledge could help her cope with the broad business world. Academically speaking, she is one of the top few students who have brought credit to my teaching career.
As former deputy dean, I used to be responsible for students’ extracurricular work. Miss xx was the leader of her class and she was responsible for organizing a series of activities of her class—the sports meet, the Art Show, donations to make poor rural kids re-gain education, etc. In those events, she displayed inexhaustible energy, strong leadership and a moral commitment. She brought honor to our department. Ms. Fan herself won the 3rd place in the Tennis Match and the 1st place in the Volleyball Game of the University. Due to her efforts, everyone in her class actively participated in extracurricular events, creating a healthy and constructive atmosphere.
