Master of Finance (MFIN)

The Tulane Finance programs offer students an exciting opportunity to study in intimate, high quality, internationally recognized programs. The Master of Finance (MFIN) program is offered at Tulane's New Orleans and Houston campuses. These two MFIN programs are similar in admission requirements, curricula, course content, and faculty. The programs differ in format, flexibility, and location.

The New Orleans MFIN program is an intensive full-time program, with new enrollments starting each July. Student complete 34 credit hours over 11 months and graduates earn a Master of Finance degree.

Freeman's Master of Finance (MFIN) is a specialized program designed for those who are ready to focus on and advance in finance. The program is developed and delivered by the Freeman Finance faculty who are internationally recognized for their research in corporate finance and investments. The program consists of coursework in finance and accounting with options for selected energy courses. The Master of Finance is for students who have a strong quantitative background and who aspire to either a career or doctoral study in finance. Students completing the Master of Finance program are qualified to compete for research-oriented financial analyst positions such as business, credit, energy, fixed income, investment banking, private equity, real estate analysis, and for positions in financial intermediation.

The MFIN program offers curriculum focused on in depth study of equity analysis, valuation, fixed income analytics, derivatives, and risk management. Tulane MFIN's have an opportunity to earn a specialization in energy that prepares students for energy analyst positions. MFIN students are also eligible to apply for specialized courses such as the Darwin Fenner Student Managed Fund and Burkenroad Reports Equity Analysis program.

The program focuses on developing strong fundamental analysis skills and uses practical applications to reinforce the technical expertise developed in the classroom. At Tulane students experience real-world finance through analyzing cases, completing projects and building financial models. Communication skills are enhanced through a financial communications class, written projects, and presentations of student financial analysis. These courses provide hands-on experience, and career building skills. The Freeman School is a partner school of the Chartered Financial Analyst Institute, a program that enables the students to prepare for the CFA exam.

The Freeman Career Management Center works with students throughout the MFIN program to develop professional opportunities. Unique Freeman events like Freeman Days in New York, Houston, and New Orleans help students develop networks within the larger financial markets.

The Houston MFIN program is held on alternate weekends over 14-months. Classes begin each January. Students are able to maintain full-time careers. The curriculum is lock-step and students follow a preset schedule.
