The MS in Finance program in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University is a rigorous, one year curriculum that prepares students to be leaders in the dynamic, fast-paced, and intellectually challenging world of finance. The program’s core courses explore the nature of capital markets as they relate to organizational goals and provide an understanding of how broad principles of finance and quantitative methods can be applied to create investment strategies.

The MS in Finance program is flexible and allows students to customize their degree by taking elective courses in any of the following areas: statistics, accounting, economics, risk management, real estate, and corporate finance. With a state-of-the-art trading room, Whitman MS in Finance students have personal access to current market data, live news feeds, software for analysis, and other resources used by professionals in the field, including Bloomberg certification terminals and Factset terminals through Whitman’s Ballentine Investment Institute.

4 + 1 MSF Program
The one year master's of finance (MSF) degree in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University is particularly well-suited to the needs of graduates with an undergraduate degree in finance or business who have professional career goals for subject matter expertise. Whitman's MSF Advantage Program provides guidance to prospective students in selecting the equivalent prerequisite courses prior to completing their undergraduate degree programs. In this way, an individual can complete work for the one year MSF degree in the Whitman School of Management in only one academic year (nine months) of additional study.

The 4 + 1 plan offers the graduate an opportunity to plan his/her academic program carefully and take advantage of the total educational experience afforded by full-time study for the MSF degree with a minimum of additional expense and time. After five years of college study, the graduate will have obtained both a bachelor's degree from their undergraduate institution and an MSF from the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University.
